Pattivs recommends selecting a single ring to serve as both the wedding and engagement. Two-part sets always rotate out of alignment. A solution for this problem is to solder them together. Still, there is a band on one side and not on the other; the design is not symmetrical. Choosing a single ring avoids all these issues and gives the most beautiful result!

Another alternative is that while a ‘single’ ring design is chosen, an unrelated band or a diamond band is purchased for the ‘wedding.’ Following the wedding, the two will never be worn together. The band will only serve as a replacement, during trips, when it might not be desirable to wear expensive jewelry.
